Breast cancer is the most frequent malignant tumor in women and it represents the first cause of death.

The mammography is the most effective diagnostic method. It has a sensibility and specificity of 90%. In this regard, digital mammography involves a great advance and an improvement in the quality and safety of diagnostic studies by avoiding further repetitions and projections.

The main advantage of digital mammography is that it allows to manipulate and amplify the images, obtaining a more complete analysis.

Benefits of Digital Mammography:

  • Less percentage of false-positive cases, which results in less number of biopsies
  • Less exposure to radiation in the case of patients with increased density of breast tissue

Some risk factors for developing breast cancer are:

  • Being a woman who has not given birth
  • Being older than 40 years of age
  • Maternal family history of breast cancer
  • First pregnancy after age 30
  • Not having breastfed
  • First menstruation before age 11
  • Delayed menopause
  • Obesity
  • Apple-shaped body
  • Prolonged intake of oral contraceptives

On the day of the exam, we recommend that you do not apply cream or deodorant in the armpit area and breast.
